Homes Under the Hammer presenter Martin Roberts has opened up about his recent terrifying health scare and admits he’s “got another shot and I don’t intend to waste it”. Martin, 58, was left fighting for his life on Wednesday 20 April when he was rushed to A&E after falling unwell. He was rushed through for an emergency operation where Heart Specialist Doctor Garg plunged an 8-inch syringe into his chest, repeatedly.
Following his terrifying ordeal, the popular presenter has now left hospital and is recuperating from his operation in his holiday cottage in Devon. He has spoken out about the profound effect the terrifying ordeal has had on him and how he views his life now. Get exclusive celebrity stories and fabulous photoshoots straight to your inbox with OK!'s daily newsletter Martin told The Sun: “I feel so very lucky to be here.
I could have died but I’m here. "I’ll never be the same person again.” “I can’t and don’t want to return to the frantic life I led before. I’ve been given a second chance and I don’t intend to waste it.” He continued: “I guess I could look at it that I’m unlucky it happened in the first place but that’s not how I’m choosing to see it.
I’ve got another shot and I don’t intend to waste it.” Martin fought for his life last month and was saved when medics discovered he wasn't suffering a heart attack as first suspected, but instead needed a procedure involving an 8-inch needle plunged into his chest while he was still awake. Days after the terrifying experience, Martin opened up to OK! about exactly what happened during that horrific time. "It's the nearest thing to not being here that's ever happened to me," Martin shared in between coughs, speaking from hospital.
