Marlee Matlin is opening up about the passing of William Hurt.
If you missed the sad news, William passed away over the weekend at the age of 71 following a battle with prostate cancer.
Marlee and William had a two year relationship after starring in Children of a Lesser God together. She won the Best Actress Oscar for her role in 1986.
After the news of his death, Marlee was asked about it at the 2022 Critics Choice Awards.

“You’re the first person to ask me about him,” Marlee said to ET, before adding that “we’ve lost a really great actor and working with him on set in Children of a Lesser God will always be something I remember very fondly.”
She added, “He taught me a great deal as an actor and he was one-of-a-kind.”
Marlee previously opened up about her relationship with William in her autobiography and detailed the alleged abuse and rape she received from him.
She noted that he “threw me on the bed, started ripping off his clothes and mine” and raped her. Marlee also opened up about him belittling her about her Oscar win: “’What makes you think you deserve it? There are hundreds of actors who have worked for years for the recognition you just got handed to you. Think about that.’”
