‘Mare Of Easttown’ could be coming back for a second season

The finale of “Dark Matter,” based on the bestselling novel by Blake Crouch, has hit Apple TV+, and while it answers many questions, it also poses a new ones. We spoke to Jennifer Connelly, who pays Daniela Dessen, who has to make an unthinkable choice. Jon Raymond will co-write the project, and both serve as executive producers. The official logline reads, “In a story told from multiple, competing perspectives, a 1920s Wall Street tycoon amasses a sudden fortune but loses a beloved wife.

Kate Winslet went to the London home of director Stephen Frears to discuss HBO’s political satire “The Regime.” She’d been cast in the role of Elena Vernham, a narcissistic European autocrat, and Frears had been pinpointed by the production as a potential director. “I was offered a cup of tea, which I then ended up making myself because he clearly had no intention of making the tea for me at all,” Winslet says. “In fact, he didn’t even seem to know where the cups were.” (The British use the phrase “Shall I be mother?” when offering to be in charge of the kettle at teatime, and Winslet, a mother of three, has some experience there.) Over the tea and some chocolate biscuits, she asked the director how he believed Elena should be played.

The network’s hopes were high as well, especially after Winslet, Evan Peters, and Julianne Nicholson won acting Emmys for the program.

It could be almost a year before the Lanthorn community centre reopens it was claimed this week after it was revealed work on the site had descended into a shambles. Scheduled to reopen at the start of this year, work at the Livingston landmark is now six months behind and more than £1m over budget. RAAC roof panels were removed in the Autumn and the building left open to the elements over winter, causing major structural damage. What started as straight-forward removal and replacement of RAAC roofing has become a major refurbishment of the entire building - adding millions of pounds to the final bill. A firm awarded a £2m contract in October 2022 were scheduled to have finished the work by January. The Local Democracy Reporting Service has been told that the firm was given an additional £450,000 to accelerate the works, but finally had their contract terminated in April. A new £1m contract had been awarded to another firm to complete the refurbishment- with an indicative end date of 1 November.
