The crest you see embroidered onto Manchester United’s suit jackets has a Latin inscription.
The words ‘Concilio et Labore’, which translates roughly as ‘Wisdom and Effort’, are along the bottom. The three diagonal stripes signify the rivers that flow through the city - the Irwell, the Irk and the Medlock - and there's an antelope wearing a gold chain and a golden lion with a crown.
There's a sophisticated elegance about the Mancunian crest that makes it perfect for United and it's still used on club suits today, complemented with a red tie and black shoes.
"It’s a massive thing, the blazers and the badge are a tribute to everybody who came before us," head of the academy Nick Cox told the Manchester Evening News.

A delighted Cox was speaking after the Under-18s had won their second trophy of the season, which was earned thanks to a 2-1 win over Manchester City at Leigh Sports Village.
"The blazers the boys wore tonight were presented to them at the start of the season when they first become full-time players and we talk to them about the importance of the badge and what it means to put it on," he added.
"As much as we’ve got to look forward, be innovative, try and work out how to be competitive in the future, the boys have got to know what they belong to.
