A man has suffered serious facial injuries after two people were attacked near a Metrolink tram stop in Piccadilly Gardens last night.
Police were deployed to the area in Manchester city centre on Saturday evening (19 March) shortly before 6.30pm to reports of an a serious assault.
Two men are understood to have been injured - one seriously - during a disturbance, GMP said. A man in his 30s was subsequently taken to hospital with serious facial injuries.

The incident prompted a large emergency response in the area and the tram stop was closed to the public. Services were not allowing passengers on or off in the area.
A cordon remained in place around the platform for a number of hours. Pictures from the scene show the police cordon, with tape at either end of the platform.
One image, which the MEN has not published, shows a pool of blood on the floor in the tram stop. A police van was also parked in front of the tram stop.
While the sun was still out, Piccadilly Gardens was packed with people enjoying an unusually warm March day. The area is also hosting Manchester's Irish Weekender, with events being held at a pop-up centre until today (March 20).
A spokesperson for GMP confirmed: "We were called just before 6.30pm on Saturday 19 March to a report of an assault in Piccadilly Gardens, Manchester.
"Two men are understood to have been assaulted - one seriously - during a disturbance.
"A man in his 30s was taken to hospital with serious facial injuries."
