A man was stabbed and run over in 'retaliation' for a 'failed attack' in Ancoats, a trial has heard.
Three men; Rushaun Brown, 24, Meshia Newby, 24, and Jermaine Leahong, 22, are charged with the murder of Neri Morse; an offence of wounding in relation to his 22-year-old nephew, Driece Morse; and having possession of an offensive weapon, namely a knife.
They each deny murder and wounding, and only Mr Brown has pleaded guilty to having possession of an offensive weapon, Mr Newby and Mr Leahong have entered not guilty pleas.

They are on trial at Manchester Crown Court. On the first day of the trial, jurors heard that the three men attacked Neri Morse, 24, and his nephew in retaliation for an earlier incident in a shop in Ancoats.
Opening the case, prosecutor Paul Reid KC said that on April 20 this year, Mr Brown, Mr Newby and Mr Leahong were seen on CCTV arriving at Zafs GoLocal store on Butler Street at around 6.19pm.
As they walked into the store, a white Seat Ibiza drove past and pulled into Rollestone Avenue, the court heard. Neri and Driece Morse were then seen to get out of the car and ‘jog’ over to the store, Mr Reid said.
“CCTV cameras within the shop show different views of what then happened over the next 25 seconds or so. A member of staff saw the group of two men confronting the group of three men, appearing to target the biggest male, namely Mr Brown” Mr Reid said.
“He saw only one person with a knife, Driece Morse. He initially had a knife in his right hand but he can be seen to transfer it to his left hand.
“The CCTV also showed Mr Leahong with a knife. He then runs towards the back of the store.”
