A man has been rescued from a sinking barge after emergency services were scrambled to the Rochdale Canal in Castlefield.

Fire crews and the ambulance service were called to reports of a boat sinking in the canal near to Lock 92 on Castle Street on Monday afternoon (16 August).

A male passenger on board the barge had to be rescued from the roof by firefighters, Greater Manchester Fire Service said.
