Detectives are investigating after a man was found with 'very serious injuries' following a suspected assault near Wigan.
Officers discovered the 37-year-old at around 7.30am this morning (Sunday) at the Ferndale housing estate in Skelmersdale.
He was rushed to Aintree Hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.
Police believe he was the victim of an assault, which may have taken place at nearby Firbeck.

Dundee.The 54-year-old man was discovered dead in a flat in Park Avenue in the city around 1.15pm on April 4. The Evening Telegraph report how there was a large police presence in the area on Sunday.
