Former Manchester City striker Paul Dickov believes Pep Guardiola's side are not under severe pressure to win the first-leg of their Champions League quarter-final clash with Atletico Madrid this evening.
After making light work after Portuguese outfit Sporting CP in the last round, winning 5-0 on aggregate, City now face the challenge of overcoming Atletico in their quest to secure their maiden Champions League crown. Atletico have made life difficult for English opposition in recent years and beat Manchester United in the last round 2-1 on aggregate.
Under manager Diego Simeone, Atletico have proven to be a tough nut to crack, often producing assured and well-disciplined performances away from home in Europe. They are particularly good at making life difficult for their opponents in Europe and City will have to be prepared to play a patient game.

And although City will be readying for themselves for a stern challenge against Atletico in the first-leg, Dickov — who enjoyed two spells as a player on the blue side of Manchester — is optimistic City can overcome the challenge and progress to the semi-finals. And he has made that admission even on the basis if the first-leg finishes all square.
"Atletico over the past few years have defensively been one of the best teams in Europe, it's going to be a test for City but one we're used to," Dickov told City's club website. "Every team we play set us defensively and make it hard for us to break down but what we usually do, regardless of the personnel, is find a way (to win).
