Manchester City star Riyad Mahrez has pleaded with Elon Musk to give him his verified blue tick back on Twitter.
Mahrez will be busy this week helping City book their place in the Champions League final as they face Real Madrid in the second leg of their semi-final at the Bernabeu. Ahead of the game, though, it seems his standing on social media has distracted him somewhat.
The Algeria international boasts more than three million followers on Twitter but, unlike most of his City teammates, doesn’t have a blue tick next to his name. The 31-year-old did previously have the verification stamp, but has since lost it.

Mahrez therefore called upon Musk — the world’s richest person — to restore his blue tick. Tesla owner Musk recently had his $44billion takeover offer of the social media company agreed, with shareholders set to vote on the proposed deal.
Since the offer was confirmed, Musk has been inundated by requests from various users, with Mahrez among those taking the opportunity to appeal to Twitter’s prospective new owner. "Bro @elonmusk give me my blue tick back," tweeted the City winger, followed by three crying-laughing emojis.
Musk hasn’t responded to Mahrez’s plea, while the City forward remains without a blue tick since making the request on Monday evening. He’ll hope he might be able to convince the billionaire as City look to complete a Premier League and Champions League double this season, with Mahrez the club’s top scorer this season with 23 goals.
