Ilkay Gundogan's title-winning exploits have earned him the right to decide his own Manchester City future, according to Pep Guardiola.
Gundogan's two goals inspired City's final-day comeback against Aston Villa last season to win the Premier League title, but he is now into the final six months of his contract with no sign of a renewal so far. The German has played well in recent games, scoring against Aston Villa and providing a crucial assist in the win at Arsenal.
With that key role in City's recent resurgence back to the top of the Premier League, Guardiola was asked to offer an update over any possible contract talks, but the manager couldn't offer any encouragement to fans hoping for the midfielder to stay.

Guardiola said: "I think I know my opinion about Ilkay. What Ilkay has done against Aston VIlla last season he can do whatever he wants. He has the paradise already. So he knows exactly my opinion about him.
"The club knows it and it is a question for him and his agent. What is going to happen I’m pretty sure is going to be good for him.
"Really we want how he is behaving, how he has behaved all his life in Manchester but what is going to happen? This kind of things belongs to the club and the player."
