Police have today arrested a man on suspicion of kidnap after a woman who was 'forced into the back of a car' was found safe and well. On Tuesday (August 16), an urgent appeal was issued to determine the welfare of a woman who appeared to be put into the back of a car on Taunton Road, Ashton under Lyne.
Shortly before 11pm on Monday evening, police had received a call reporting somebody had seen a young woman forced into the back of a small silver car by a man close to the Dog and Partridge pub. Enquiries established the pair may have argued moments before the incident, before the car then headed towards Oldham.
Sharing an update on Wednesday (August 17), Greater Manchester Police said a woman has been found and is safe. A man, aged 35, has been arrested on suspicion of kidnap and remains in custody for questioning.

The post read: "Officers responding to call for concern in Tameside have located a woman and confirmed she is safe and well Police were called to Taunton Road, Ashton-Under-Lyne on Monday 15 August 2022.
"A 35-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of kidnap and is currently in custody for further enquiries. Thank you to everyone who shared our appeal."
