NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Officials are continuing to assess building damage caused by the Christmas Day bombing as law enforcement officials on Thursday allowed media outlets the first opportunity to survey the downtown Nashville explosion site. The photos show blown-out windows, debris spilling out of buildings onto sidewalks and a dark crater where the bomb directly went off.

Nashville’s annual New Year’s celebration will be even quieter than its already-subdued plan, according to recent reports. Typically, the city’s event, which includes live music, attracts more than 200,000 people, The Associated Press reported.
