A man has been arrested after social media posts were directed towards England players after the Euro 2020 final.
The suspect, aged 37, handed himself in at Cheadle Heath police station this morning (July 14).
He was arrested on suspicion of an offence under Section 1 of the Malicious Communications Act.
The man, from Ashton-upon-Mersey, remains in custody for questioning, police said.

A host of celebrities have thrown their support towards the England team ahead of their European Championship final against Italy on Sunday 11 July. Kicking things off was former Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan, 56, who took to his Instagram feed to share a photo of himself posing in a black vest with a blue shirt underneath as he stood with his arms folded.The snap showed squad captain Harry Kane pulling a similar pose while dressed in a blue Nike top and dark trousers.
