Man, 25, dies after crash on on East Lancashire Road in Merseyside

A man has died following a crash on East Lancashire Road road this morning.
Emergency Services attended to the scene at the junction of Moorgate Road at around 7am on Friday, November 3. It comes after a 25-year-old cyclist and a white Volkswagen Sirocco crashed on the carriageway.
The cyclist was taken to hospital after sustaining serious injuries and died shortly after. His next of kin have been notified and are being supported by specially trained officers, the Liverpool Echo reports.

Police said a 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, driving a vehicle whilst unfit through drugs, and driving a vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the limit. Currently, the man is in custody and will be questioned by officers.
As a result of the incident, road closures are in place in both directions of East Lancashire Road (A580) from junction 4 of M57 to Coopers Lane while police carry out investigations. Detectives are also appealing for witnesses or any CCTV or dash cam footage that may have captured the incident.
