Man, 20, dies, woman 'serious' in hospital and 'several taken ill' at Bassfest music event

A man aged 20 has died and several others have been taken ill after the Bassfest festival in Sheffield, police have confirmed.
A 23-year-old woman who also fell ill at the music event remained today in a 'serious but stable condition', according to South Yorkshire Police. The man, who is from Holmfirth in West Yorkshire, was taken to hospital but sadly pronounced dead later.
Police said investigators 'are aware that several other people also presented to medical staff after becoming ill with symptoms consistent with having taken drugs'.
It's understood those taken ill had taken suspected Ecstasy or MDMA, the force added. The two day electronic music event's line-up featured artists including Chase & Status, Tion Wayne, Andy C, Hybrid Minds, Shy FX, Wilkinson, Bad Boy Chiller Crew and Bru-C.
The woman in hospital is 23 and from Ipswich in Suffolk.
In a statement, South Yorkshire Police said: "We were called by Yorkshire Ambulance Service at 9.04pm yesterday - Sunday - to reports that a man had been taken seriously ill at the Bassfest event at Don Valley Bowl in Sheffield.
"The man, aged 20, from Holmfirth in West Yorkshire, was taken to hospital, where he was sadly pronounced dead. His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers at this time.
"A woman, aged 23 from Ipswich in Suffolk, was also taken ill at the event and taken to hospital where she remains in a serious but stable condition. Investigators are aware that several other people also presented to medical staff after becoming ill with symptoms consistent with having taken drugs.
