Several roads have been closed in Nottingham due to a major incident in the city centre.
Police, paramedics and firefighters are all at the scene, as well as specialist rescue unit vehicles. Members of the public have been asked to avoid the area and use alternative routes, Nottingham Live reports.
The A6008 Upper Parliament Street has been cordoned off from the junction with Maid Marian Way, towards the Theatre Royal. The A60 Mansfield Road has also been closed between Woodborough Road, towards Mapperley and St Ann's, and Shakespeare Street, near the Victoria Centre. It is not known the nature of the incident at the moment.
While Milton Street, that runs parallel to the main entrance to the shopping centre, and Burton Street have also been sealed off. Police say the roads are expected to remain closed for some time.
All tram services have been halted as a result of the 'major police incident', with passengers able to use their tram tickets on NCT buses instead.
Chief Inspector Neil Humphries, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Officers are currently on scene at multiple road closures due to an ongoing incident. Please avoid these areas as they are expected to remain closed for some time.”
Maples Street in Hyson Green is also shut, while the A609 Ilkeston Road is also closed in both directions, with slow traffic due to a police incident from Faraday Road to Bright Street. Magdala Road near Mapperley Park is also closed.
