‘Magnificent Seven’ Series Reboot in the Works at Amazon From Nic Pizzolatto

Joe Otterson TV Reporter “Walker: Independence” has been canceled at The CW after just one season, Variety has learned. The series served as a prequel to fellow CW show “Walker,” which was just renewed for Season 4 at the network. The show was set in the late 1800s. Per the official description, it followed “Abby Walker (Katherine McNamara), an affluent and tough-minded Bostonian whose husband is murdered before her eyes while on their journey out West. After crossing paths with Calian (Justin Johnson Cortez), a curious Apache tracker, Abby arrives in the town of Independence, Texas, where she encounters diverse and eclectic residents running from their pasts, chasing their dreams, and keeping their own secrets.”

Woody Harrelson just shared a new piece of evidence to support his theory that he and Matthew McConaughey are brothers. In a new interview with Esquire, Harrelson claims that when Matthew McConaughey was born in 1969, McConaughey's dad told his mom, "That ain’t my son" and refused to go to the hospital with her.

After losing its original director and facing multiple rounds of revisions on the script, the “Blade” reboot from Marvel Studios seemingly still has some creative challenges to overcome. The Hollywood Reporter reports that “True Detective” creator/writer Nic Pizzolatto has been tapped by Marvel to help on the latest round of rewrites for the supernatural action-horror film.

Angelique Jackson “True Detective” creator Nic Pizzolatto has signed on to write Marvel Studios’ “Blade” movie, reuniting with Mahershala Ali, who starred in the third season of his HBO crime series. “Blade” boasts Oscar winner Ali as the title vampire slayer, with Aaron Pierre, Delroy Lindo and Mia Goth among the starry cast. Pre-production on the film is underway, with Pizzolatto taking on writing duties, working from a draft of the script by Emmy nominee Michael Starrbury, which has been said to be “darker than most MCU movies.” Directed by Yann Demange, who helmed “White Boy Rick” and the pilot for “Lovecraft Country,” the film is expected to begin filming in late May in Atlanta.

There is a common idea floating around, specifically with cynically-minded fans, that Hollywood has run out of original ideas and everything has to be a sequel, reboot, remake, or a combination of all three. Well, those folks aren’t going to be excited to know that a TV series adaptation of “The Magnificent Seven” is coming, and the origins of the new series seem to lend credence to the idea that modern studios are really only interested in farming IPs.  According to Deadline, “True Detective” creator Nic Pizzolatto has signed on to write and produce a new series adaptation of “The Magnificent Seven” for Amazon Studios.

“Twilight” may be coming to TV!

Will Ferrell is no stranger to sports comedies, with the likes of “Talladega Nights: The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby,” “Semi-Pro,” and “Blades Of Glory” already under his belt. Now he’ll tackle territory similar to “Happy Gilmore” and “Caddyshack.” Deadline reports that Ferrell will headline an upcoming golf comedy series about a pro golfer who becomes the controversial face of a new league competing with the PGA.

Twilight may be coming to TV!The popular novels by Stephenie Meyer is in early development at Lionsgate TV to be turned into a potential television series, ET has confirmed.According to which first broke the news, producer Sinead Daly is attached to write the script for the project. It is unclear at the moment whether the possible series would be a direct adaptation of Meyer's novels, which inspired the multibillion-dollar five-movie franchise, or a different take.

The Hollywood Reporter, which first reported the news, “Tell Me Lies” and “The Get Down” writer Sinead Daly is attached to pen the script. There also isn’t a timeline for the project at the moment. Lionsgate TV plans to lead development on the series before shopping the rights to the package.

Zack Sharf Digital News Director Woody Harrelson is currently making the press rounds in support of his new HBO limited series “White House Plumbers,” which means it was only inevitable he’d be asked about Matthew McConaughey’s recent revelation that the two actors might actually be biological brothers. Harrelson confirmed the news during an interview on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.” “Well, I’ll just say there is some veracity to that thought because we talked to Ma’ Mac, Matthew’s legitimate mother, and she let us know one time…I mean, this is crazy,” Harrelson said. “We were in Greece watching the U.S. team win the World Cup and I don’t know, I mentioned something about regrets. And I said, ‘You know, it’s odd that my father has no regrets.’ And I have known Ma’ Mac a long time, and she goes, ‘I knew… your father.’ And it was the ellipses I found a little troubling, or interesting. ‘I knew your father.'”

In a new podcast, McConaughey revealed that their bond could be even more intimate, with there being a possibility that the two could be brothers.

Matthew McConaughey said this week that although he had "considered getting in that run" for governor of Texas last year, he decided not to partially because he wanted to focus on being a father.  "I don’t think that’s where I can be the most useful right now," the "Greenlights" author told Chelsea Handler on her iHeartMedia "Dear Chelsea" podcast Thursday.  He continued, "I’m having too good of a time. I’ve got three kids — 14, 13, 10 — and the adventures we’re going on, I’m not going to get them again; and right now, I’m enjoying being a dad, a family man.

"You know, where I start and where he ends, and where he starts and I end, has always been like a murky line… that’s part of our bromance, right?" McConaughey began to explain on Kelly Ripa’s "Let’s Talk Off Camera" podcast.
