Madonna was forced to stop her show on her opening night and apologise to fans following an unexpected blunder. On Saturday night (14 October) The Queen of Pop, 65, returned to the stage to kick off her Celebration Tour - set to cover her greatest hits over her more than four-decade career.
But after performing her hit Burning Up on the first official tour date, Madonna was forced to briefly stop the show, saying there was a problem with the sound and they had to "press the reset button".
The singer, who said her children were in the audience, added: "This is exactly what you don't want to happen on your opening night so this wasn't planned. I'm sorry." To fill the time, the pop star recalled how difficult things were when she was in her first band and was "broke and hungry and making zero cash" - but could "see the future".
She said she would "date men who had showers and bath tubs" because she had no way to wash.
The singer recalled asking men she thought were "cute" if they lived alone and had a shower before asking them to get dinner. After the tech issues were resolved, Madonna made up for the wait by launching into lively versions of Open Your Heart and Holiday.
The tour which has been labelled a "one-of-a-kind experience" started with a powerful rendition of her 1998 hit Nothing Really Matters as Madonna glided across the stage in an elaborate black gown and silver headpiece.
Saturday night's show at The O2 marks the first official tour date after the original start in Canada had to be postponed due to the singer falling ill. Madonna’s manager Guy Oseary said in June she had developed a “serious bacterial infection” which led to a several-day stay in hospital.
