Love Island’s Sharon Gaffka has slammed the lack of plus-sized contestants and says they're "still being overlooked" on the newest series of the show, which will launch on 6 June.The first batch of sexy singletons have been announced for the 2022 version of the show, and whilst it has been praised for more diversity in this year’s casting 2021 contestant, Sharon, thinks they still have a long way to go. Sharon was an Islander on seventh series of Love Island, and she entered the villa on the first daym before being dumped from the island on day 19.The 26 year old, who appeared on last year’s series alongside the likes of Faye Winter and Millie Court, spoke on TalkTV’s The News Desk about how more should be done to include all body types in the show.

She said: "We stereotypically see men with six packs, women being very, very petite. "There are still midsize and plus size people out there who are looking for love and would make great contestants on the show so I feel like they're still being overlooked.” Sharon, who is of British, Indonesian and Polish descent, also criticised Love Island for not including any Asian contestants in the initial line-up of the serires.The reality star explained: "It's not just ethnicity and what I do think it's great that you know, close to 50% of the cast will be diverse or from a different background I still think we're not seeing any Asians in the original line-up.” Despite her criticisms of the show, Sharon did have some praise for them, after a number of the contestants named in the new series have ‘real jobs’ and are not just influencers.

Good Morning Britain's Entertainment Editor Richard Arnold revealed that the show has a secret family connection to Love Island contestant Ekin-Su Cülcüloglu.The 52 year old made the revelation as he presented a clip of Ekin-Su acting quite animatedly in Turkish soap opera Kuzey Yildizi on Wednesday morning's show. Richard informed hosts Richard Madeley and Susanna Reid that he’d received help in translating the footage from a GMB colleague working behind the scenes of GMB, who is actually quite closely related to Ekin-Su. “So we had that translated by one of our colleagues who turns out to be Ekin-Su’s cousin,” Richard said, surprising the co-presenters.
