Love Island's Kaz Crossley is set "to be freed from jail in Dubai" after "fully cooperating with officials", following her arrest on suspicion of drug offences. Kaz, 28, who appeared on Love Island in 2018, was arrested at Abu Dhabi airport, which she was travelling through on her way to Thailand, on Monday.
Her name is thought to have been flagged to the United Arab Emirates after a two year old video surfaced online of a woman, allegedly Kaz, appearing to sniff a white powder substance off a table whilst in Dubai. The woman was wearing a bright orange mini dress and nude heels with her hair tied back as she bent over a table and apparently sniffed the mystery substance. The video is thought to have been taken during lockdown in 2020, as many celebrities fled to Dubai to avoid the UK's heavy Covid restrictions.
After a "terrified" Kaz has spent four days in a Dubai jail, her representative confirmed to The Sun that she is set to be released. They told The Sun: "Kaz has fully cooperated with officials and is free to continue her journey." The representative explained: “Kaz was travelling through Abu Dhabi on her way to Thailand, where she was stopped by UAE police and taken in for questioning in relation to a matter that is not directly related to her but officials felt she could assist in their enquiries." OK! has contacted Kaz's representatives for comment.
The Sun also reported that Kaz was refused a phone call when she was arrested by UAE authorities, and instead was only allowed to send a single email. There are strict laws against alcohol and drugs in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, which were recently amended, where first time offenders face a minimum of three months in jail and a fine between £4,500 and £22,800.
