Ex-Rangers captain Lorenzo Amoruso has branded Hearts no better than a struggling Serie B side.
And he reckons his former club Fiorentina are getting carried away with their win at Tynecastle. Hearts travel to Italy this week for the second part of their double-header with the Florence side after the Tuscan side cruised to a 3-0 win in Edinburgh in the Europa Conference League. A behind-the-scenes row has erupted after pictures of the litter-strewn away dressing room went viral after the game.
But Fiorentina insisted they had to make a quick exit from Tynecastle because there was no hot water for their showers at the Gorgie ground and they had to rush back to their hotel to get changed. Now Amoruso - who played for Fiorentina before moving to Rangers in a £4 million deal in 1997 - reckons La Viola won too much praise for their win in Scotland.
He said: "Hearts are just a low-ranking team in Serie B. I saw too much euphoria after the result in Edinburgh.
"Look, it's right to look at the positive things from Thursday's game, but we can't take the Hearts game as an example because of the standard.
"And after losing to Basaksehir and failing to beat Riga, winning was essential.
"Last season, the team's attitude was never put into question. Fiorentina always played at a high standard even in defeats, but this season we have often not been able to express ourselves."
