Loose Women panellist Coleen Nolan is the latest star to give her view on Will Smith hitting Chris Rock at the Oscars 2022, saying he became a ‘lion’ to protect his family. When comedian Chris Rock took aim at Will’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith during the Academy Awards, Will, 53, stormed onto the stage and slapped Chris, 57.
Will, who went on to pick up the award for Best Actor later in the ceremony, then returned to his seat and shouted at Chris from the audience to leave his wife Jada out of his jokes. Speaking about the controversial incident on Monday 28 March’s episode of the ITV lunchtime show, Coleen, 57, condemned Will’s actions, before describing him as a ‘lion’ who stepped in to help his wife.

If he could have just thought, ‘I’ll get him later in my speech.’ “He is an intelligent, beautifully spoken man and he’s a lovely man - I’ve never met anyone that hasn’t said that Will Smith is the loveliest guy. “I think it’s a shame as he could have got Chris Rock back in a fantastic speech, but he lost the ability in that moment.” Mum of three Coleen then went on to explain that she thinks Will turned into a protective ‘lion’ by Jada’s side - something the panel could all relate to with their own families.
