Brenda Edwards has spoken out for first time since the passing of her son Jamal and said she is completely devastated.
The news of the 31-year-old's death was announced yesterday (Sunday) by his company SBTV.
But now his heartbroken mother, Loose Women panelist Brenda Edwards, has spoken out about her devastation.
She made a statement to ITV, which was broadcast on GMB this morning.
It read: "It is with the deepest heartache that I confirm that my beautiful son Jamal Edwards passed away yesterday morning after a sudden illness.
"Myself, his sister Tanish and the rest of his family and friends are completely devastated. He was the centre of our world."
She added: "As we come to terms with his passing, we ask for privacy to grieve this unimaginable loss. I would like to thank everyone for their messages of love and support. Jamal was an inspiration to myself and so many. Our love for him lives on, his legacy lives on. Long live Jamal Edwards MBE, MBA, PHD."
Brenda's fellow Loose Women panelist, Denise Welch, paid tribute to her pal's son.
She wrote on social media: "My heart aches for my friend Brenda. I can’t bear it. Jamal Edwards was a wonderful son and brother [sad face emojis]."
In November, Jamal appeared on Loose Women alongside his mother and credited the former X Factor contestant with inspiring him.
Speaking about his career achievements, Gloria Hunniford asked Jamal: "I want to know what the drive in you made you want that success…"
The late star responded: "My friends weren’t being represented in mainstream media, so that’s what inspired me.
"But obviously my mum’s work ethic inspired me.
