A care home worker has been banned from working in the sector after accepting a cheque for £20,000 from a resident in order to buy a new car.

Perth and Kinross Health and Social Care Partnership (P&K HSCP) has confirmed that a new ‘care and treatment centre’ model is being developed at Blairgowrie Community Hospital as part of a wider programme to deliver urgent care locally and across the country.
The new model will take over from the Minor Injuries Unit – based at the town’s Cottage Hospital – which was closed last year in line with precautions imposed at the time to try to tackle the global coronavirus pandemic.
A spokesperson for P&K HSCP said: “In line with the Scottish Government’s Redesign of Urgent Care and the General Medical Services contract, eight new care and treatment centres are being developed across Perth and Kinross, including a centre in Blairgowrie.
“This new way of delivering urgent care nationally has been designed to help people get the right care in the right place.
“Work around care and treatment services for those with minor injuries has continued during P&K HSCP’s COVID-19 response and the model is currently being developed for people in Blairgowrie, Pitlochry, Aberfeldy, Crieff, Kinross, Bridge of Earn, Auchterarder and Perth city.
“The introduction of these centres means that the majority of minor injury services, which were previously provided at the Minor Injury Units in Perth and Kinross, are now being safely delivered within care and treatment centres.
“Patients are asked not to self-present at care and treatment centres.
“In line with national guidance, people should contact NHS 24 on 111 where they will be assessed and directed to the appropriate clinical service. GPs may also appoint patients to be seen at care and treatment centres.
