And while her time on the pitch may be the centre of the spotlight, away from the sport, Ellen lives a quiet life with her husband Callum Convery. Back in 2019, the loved-up couple spoke exclusively to OK! ’s Emily Whitwam about their relationship and shared love for football. So, let’s take a peek inside their relationship… Ellen and Callum first met while at university together, though things didn’t get off to a smooth start, according to the couple.
“We were studying sports science at Loughborough University together. He kept asking questions in class and I was like, stop asking questions, I want to go home,” Ellen told us back in 2019. “We started chatting after I was injured.” But for Callum, things were a bit different and a little less straightforward.
“She ignored me after I said: ‘We should hang out a bit more,’ but eventually we went out for a curry and, 11 years later, we’re still here!,” he joked. After hitting it off, the couple’s relationship went from strength-to-strength and they bought a house in Nottingham, where Callum had been working as a sports development officer at Nottinghamshire Football Association. In 2013, Callum got down on one knee and asked Ellen to be his wife.
