Ringo Starr’s EP with The Strokes‘ guitarist Nick Valensi, ‘Crooked Boy’, is now available on streaming after being originally released on exclusive vinyl for Record Store Day.The four-track EP was co-written with Linda Perry, who Starr previously worked with on the tracks ‘Coming Undone’ and ‘Everyone And Everything’.“I love what Linda did and I think all the songs are all great but one thing I did ask her was to write me a rocker,” the former Beatles drummer said in a statement. “And that’s ‘Gonna Need Someone’ and I love it! The documentary is produced by CNN FlashDocs and will highlight how high-profile artists like Beyoncé and Lil Nas X challenge the country music genre, and how their impact connects to the history of Black artists in Nashville. Released on March 29, “Cowboy Carter” is Beyoncé’s eighth solo studio album.

Jack Dunn Tribeca Festival has revealed its feature film lineup for its 2024 festival, which includes films from actors Lily Gladstone and Michael Cera and documentaries featuring Prince, Carlos Santana and Dolly Parton. The opening night film is documentary “Diane von Furstenberg: Woman in Charge,” directed by Tribeca alumni Trish Dalton and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. This year’s festival, which runs from June 5-16 in New York City, has a program of 103 feature films from 114 filmmakers spanning 48 countries.

Jem Aswad Executive Editor, Music Rico Wade, a member of the pioneering Atlanta-based production trio Organized Noize and a key early Outkast collaborator, has died, according to an Instagram post by his close friend Killer Mike and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. No cause of death was cited; he was 52. “I don’t have the words to express my deep and profound sense of loss,” Killer Mike wrote.

Paul McCartney was joined by The Eagles on a version of ‘Let It Be’ at a tribute concert for the late Jimmy Buffett at the Hollywood Bowl this week. The singer-songwriter, known for his tropical rock sound, died at the age of 76 last September after a four-year battle with skin cancer. The concert, titled ‘Keep the Party Going: A Tribute to Jimmy Buffett’ took place at the Los Angeles venue on Thursday (April 11), including appearances from Sheryl Crow, Brandi Carlile, Zac Brown, Jon Bon Jovi and Buffett’s band The Coral Reefer Band.

But it was Buffett-mania that was in full sway, as a cast of dozens of singers and celebrity presenters — from Jane Fonda to Snoop Dogg — saluted or parroted a fallen musical hero for the three-and-a-half-hour “Keep The Party Going: A Tribute to Jimmy Buffett.” Most of the night’s entertainers covered Buffett classics or obscurities, although McCartney, the Eagles and Snoop Dogg broke with that to regale the full Bowl house with their own material, while Zac Brown and (sending in a video contribution) Dave Matthews debuted brand new songs saluting Buffett.

Joni Mitchell honored Elton John and Bernie Taupin with a jazzy rendition of their 1983 hit “I’m Still Standing” at the Library of Congress’ Gershwin Prize ceremony on Monday. Mitchell, 80, was introduced at last month’s ceremony — which later aired on PBS — by Brandi Carlile.“She was given the green light by Elton and Bernie to change some of the lyrics to fit her, which is honestly the most Joni Mitchell thing I think I’ve ever heard of,” Carlile, 42, joked, prompting the audience to laugh.
