Lil Nas X’s Wild Ride From Obscurity to Grammy Nominee

2 Chainz and the T.R.U. crew just dropped their collaborative album, No Face, No Case. The tracklist includes the previously released cuts, “Georgia,” “Virgil Discount,” and “Shoot It Out.” This is 2 Chainz’ first project since last year’s Rap or Go to the League.

During the 2020 Grammy Awards, Billie Eilish, Lizzo, Tyler, The Creator, and Lil Nas X were among the biggest names to pick up awards in major categories. Each of the superstars also performed during the ceremony, sending pageviews for their songs soaring on Genius.

Lil Nas X and other LGBTQ celebrities rocked both the ceremony and the red carpet at last night’s (January 26) 62nd Annual Grammy Awards.

In a bittersweet somber opening to the annual Grammy Awards 2020 ceremony, which saw Black gay musician Lil Nas X winning two out of his six nominations and lesbian Tracy Young being the first woman to win in the category of Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical at the Grammy Awards- artist and multiple Grammy winner host Alicia Keys paid a touching tribute to the retired basketball superstar Kobe Bryant who was killed hours before the ceremony began.

Billie Eilish, Camila Cabello and Lil Nas X delivered a flurry of live performances at the 62nd Grammy Awards – a night overshadowed by the death of Kobe Bryant.

Grammys 2020 takes place today, January 26, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The prestigious awards show sees Lizzo, Lil Nas X and Billie Eilish leading the brigade of nominations.

J. Cole and his Dreamville collective spent 10 days at Tree Sound Studios in Atlanta last year to record their collaborative album, Revenge of the Dreamers III. A star-studded list of artists and producers headed down south to partake in the recording sessions, and the album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. The set received a Grammy nomination for best rap album, which shone a whole new light on the Dreamville camp.

Was Lil Nas X the pop culture phenomenon of 2019, or was it BTS? Either way, the Grammys have it covered — and within a single number. The Recording Academy and CBS officially confirmed Thursday that the rapper and the K-pop group will perform together on the awards telecast Jan. 26.
