Oasis star Liam Gallagher has revealed he's on a health mission to 'undo years of partying' as he battles arthritis and an autoimmune condition.
The 51 year old confessed that his past lifestyle of boozing and drug use is catching up with him, leading to a big change in how he lives. In 2023, Liam shared that he needed hip joint replacements due to arthritis caused by a long-term thyroid problem, which led to a major hip operation. Earlier, in 2017, he was diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease, an autoimmune condition affecting the thyroid gland, and he also suffers from the skin condition psoriasis.
Chatting to The Sun, he said: 'You've got to undo all the bad work you've done through getting off your head and all that. It's time to undo it all now and get back to reality... it's time to get healthy." His new 'health trip' involves cutting back on booze, stopping drug use, and waking up at 4am every day.
Reflecting on life, Liam added: "As you get older, life is precious, do you know what I mean? I'm a pretty happy-go-lucky guy. I love waking up early in the morning. I'm definitely on the downwards slide, though.
But we're all going to die, aren't we?" Talking about his hip problems last year, he shared: 'My hips are f***ed, I've got arthritis, bad. I went to get it checked out and my bones are mashed up.
The lady was going, 'Oh, you might need a hip operation, a replacement.'" He confessed at the time that he was hesitant about the operation due to the "stigma". He said, '"I think I'd rather just be in pain.
Which is ridiculous, obviously. I know that. Just get them fixed.
