While many in the music industry expect Europe’s nightclubs and concert halls to remain shuttered this summer, Spain’s nightlife industry isn’t giving up just yet.This week some of Spain biggest live music industry associations say they are joining the government in releasing guides to hygienic and sanitary measures for live music venues to follow to prevent the spread of the coronavirus as they open back up for business.

The Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival on Thursday awarded its best international feature film prize to Stray, an American film from director Elizabeth Lo about stray dogs in Istanbul that debuted at Tribeca. The fest also gave a special jury prize in the international feature doc competition to Rodrigo Reyes' 499, a U.S.-Mexico co-production about the Spanish conquest of the Aztec empire.

Álex Lequio, the son of Spanish actress Ana Obregón and the Italian aristocrat Alessandro Lequio, has died at the age of 27 due to cancer. After two years of fighting against the illness, Álex was admitted to a clinic in Barcelona where he stayed for a little more than a month. According to our sister website, HELLO! Spain, during those weeks, his parents did not leave his side while he received a new treatment.

The Roku Channel announced the addition of six new Spanish-language channels that are available for streaming starting Monday (May 11).From music to variety shows, one of the new channels is Latido Music, described as a digital music platform that will allow viewers to "feel closer to your favorite artists of all genres" through news, interviews, original content, playlists, coverage and more shows, according to a press release.The new Spanish-language content will be housed in the "Spanish

Cher is no stranger to ABBA music. The 73-year-old singer crooned the Swedish pop group’s tunes in the movie Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, and now she is covering their 1979 hit Chiquitita in Spanish.

Like a lot of people on lockdown,  Stella Banderas  has taken to the kitchen out of necessity and also as a means of distraction and comfort during these difficult times. Stella no doubt grew up sampling tortilla with her grandparents in Malaga and it’s on offer at most bars around Spain – a delicious, quick and filling dish packed with the goodness of eggs and potatoes.
