Last month, East London rapper Lancey Foux released a near-platonic earworm of a track titled “MMM HMM” featuring St. Louis’s fastest-rising star, Sexyy Red.
Today (August 4), Foux premieres the track’s humbly shot, hyperactively edited visual treatment with The FADER. In the new video, Lancey and Sexyy meet outside a neutral club location somewhere between the U.K.
and the American midwest, where they dance and deliver their verses in front of a constantly roving single-camera setup, amid manic cuts to venue and vehicle interiors that give the whole affair a swerving, motion-sick aesthetic. The strong, cross-pond chemistry between Foux and Red is clear throughout the clip, creating a will-they-or-won’t-they energy that imbues Sexyy’s final line, “Lancey think I’m cute, and he wanna have sex,” with extra meaning.
