Kate Middleton did not curtsy to King Charles at the Commonwealth Day Service - leaving many royal watchers confused. The King, 74, and Queen Consort Camilla were shown chatting with the rest of the Royal Family before taking their seats at this year’s event at Westminster Abbey. They were seen exchanging small talk with Prince William, 40, and Princess Kate, 41, as well as the new Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh - Edward and Sophie.

Over the past few days, certain royal titles have been re-arranged by King Charles. It was confirmed today that his younger brother, Prince Edward, has been handed the title of Duke of Edinburgh, which his late father Prince Philip used to hold.

King Charles has bestowed an unforgettable birthday honor on his younger brother, Prince Edward. On Friday, Queen Elizabeth's youngest child rang in his 59th birthday and, in celebration of the occasion, the new monarch granted him their late father, Prince Philip's, former title, the Duke of Edinburgh. «His Majesty The King has been pleased to confer the Dukedom of Edinburgh upon The Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex and Forfar, on the occasion of His Royal Highness’s 59th birthday.  The title will be held by Prince Edward for His Royal Highness’s lifetime,» a Buckingham Palace press release read. «The Dukedom was last created for Prince Philip in 1947, upon his marriage to Princess Elizabeth, who held the title of Duchess of Edinburgh before acceding to the throne in 1952.»Prince Philip died in April 2021 at the age of 99.

Prince William, Kate Middleton, King Charles and Camila, Queen Consort, all opted not to attend the christening of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's daughter, Lilibet, despite being invited to the private ceremony.A spokesperson for Harry and Meghan confirmed to ET that an intimate ceremony was held last week at their home in Montecito, California, for the couple's 21-month-old daughter. «I can confirm that Princess Lilibet Diana was christened on Friday, March 3, by the Archbishop of Los Angeles, the Rev. John Taylor,» the spokesperson shared.According to, the ceremony was attended by 20-30 guests including Lilibet's godfather, Tyler Perry, an unnamed godmother and Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland.Although the royals were not in attendance, ET can confirm that Lilibet’s title of princess is in line with the precedent created by the letters patent issued by George V in 1917, which conferred the title of prince or princess on male line grandchildren of the Sovereign, meaning she and her brother, Archie, 3, have been able to hold the titles since Charles' accession.The royal family's absence comes after months of turmoil between Harry, Meghan, William and Charles, following the release of Harry's memoir,.
