A Kilbirnie mum has raised £2,630 for Epilepsy Scotland by walking 10km every day for a month.
Kirsty Wark, 32, took on this challenge as her daughter Sylvie was diagnosed with epilepsy when she was just seven days old. Sylvie, who is now five weeks old, needs medication twice a day.
Kirsty said: "When Sylvie was six days old, we went into the hospital as she was exhibiting abnormal movements. We were told that it was epilepsy when she was seven days old. I was devastated.
"I was so worried about how this was going to impact on her developmentally and even though she was only one week old, I couldn’t help but think of how this might affect her life as she grows up."
She started the challenge just five weeks after giving birth and managed to do 316.55km in total, equivalent to 429,001 steps.
Kirsty said: "Beginning this challenge at five weeks postpartum was tough. When I had my son, I’m pretty sure I was still in the house all the time and taking it easy on the couch at that stage.
"Not only that, but my little boy was only 20 months, so it was five weeks postpartum, with two under two, plates and pins in my ankle due to a bad break years ago and localised osteoporosis in that ankle.
"I would often think - I should have just organised a bake sale. But I’m glad I didn’t as I really feel I achieved something and raised more money and awareness due to the challenge being tough for me and my situation!"
Jane Roberts, Fundraising Manager at Epilepsy Scotland, said: "We would like to say a big thank you to Kirsty and her family for taking on this incredible challenge and raising such an amazing amount for Epilepsy Scotland.
"Doing this challenge is hard enough but to do it while just five weeks after given birth to her beautiful
