Kevin Hart, Tiffany Haddish, Ludacris and more celebs attend memorial service honouring George Floyd

Almost two weeks after his death at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer, George Floyd was laid to rest in hometown Houston, Texas. A sea of mourners gathered on the streets to pay their last respects, many others stood in long queues during Floyd's public memorial.

George Floyd will never be forgotten. The 46-year-old was remembered at an emotional memorial service held in Raeford, North Carolina — his birthplace — on Saturday, June 6.

George Floyd’s beautiful memorial service took an interesting turn when reverend Al Sharpton began to name drop the celebrities in attendance. “I want to thank from the entertainment world, Kevin Hart, he told me don’t mention he’s here so don’t clap — stand up Kevin,” Al, who delivered the memorial’s eulogy, said at the event in Minneapolis on June 4.

George Floyd will soon be memorialized across the nation. Floyd — whose death at the hands of police officers sparked protests and demonstrations across the nation over the past week — will be laid to rest following the services.

Hundreds of thousands of people across the world took the streets of their local cities to protest the death of George Floyd, a 46-year-old unarmed black man, who was murdered in Minneapolis on May 25 after a white police officer placed his knee on Floyd’s neck for nine minutes.
