Kerry Katona broke down in tears as she reunited with her foster father during an episode of Steph's Packed Lunch on Channel 4. The former Atomic Kitten pop star, 41, was overcome with emotion as she reflected on their relationship and how much he did for her growing up. Mum-of-five Kerry lived with four different foster families from the age of 13.
She also attended eight different schools as a teenager, and ended up staying in three refuges as her mum Sue struggled with her mental health. Kerry's distressing teenage years saw her given amphetamines, which are known as speed, by her mum, after the single parent told her daughter it was sherbet. Speaking about her past in a pre-recorded film which aired on Steph McGovern's lunchtime show, Kerry explained: "As a child, I moved round a lot. At the age of 13, I was put into foster care. "I stayed in several foster homes and refuges but eventually I was taken in by an amazing couple, Mags and Fred.
"Mags sadly passed away six years ago, but I still remain really close to Fred," Kerry continued. The reality TV star was then filmed visiting her former foster dad, as she recalled the very first time she was taken to his house. "The first I came in here, I came in the kitchen and Mags said that I opened all the cupboards and I was like, ‘Oh my god you’ve got food in your cupboards.’ I was like, ‘Look at all the food in there!’" Kerry laughed with Fred.
