Keen gardeners will no doubt be in their element due to the recent warm weather in Scotland, with plenty of opportunities to get outside and reap the benefits of hard work.
However, there's one certain pest that can be a real nuisance for gardeners - snails. These creatures like to munch away on plants, leaving them ruined and destroying the appearance of your garden.
It's often recommended that you don't use any harsh pesticides to deal with a snail infestation, as these can be toxic to humans and animals. Instead, one cheap ingredient could do the trick, and the hack couldn't be simpler to carry out.
The method was shared on the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook page, in which hundreds of thousands of cleaning fans offer up their household dilemmas and share solutions on a daily basis.
One woman, who has recently been struggling with a snail problem in her garden, was keen to find out if there was anything she could do to banish the pests for good.
Posting to the group, she said: "How do I keep the snails from eating my lillies in the garden? I am using crushed up egg shells but they don’t seem to have any effect."
Using eggshells to deter snails and slugs can actually have the opposite effect, according to Garden Myths. Thankfully, the group members soon came flocking to the comments section with another simple and affordable solution - using cheap beer.
One person said: "Fill a plastic food tray with cheap beer. They'll flock to it, drink and drown. No other wildlife will be harmed."
Another echoed: "Put little deep tubs of cheap beer in cups they go in and drown happy. We have tried everything and this is the only thing that works."

Taylor Swift performing in the city next month. As per BBC News, Shelter Scotland have reported that several homeless people it has been supporting have been sent by taxi to Aberdeen and Glasgow because of a shortage of accommodation in the city due to the upcoming concerts. The housing charity told the BBC it was “a blatant injustice” for homeless people to be “in direct competition” with tourists visiting the city. They added that people being declared homeless in Edinburgh who would usually be offered temporary accommodation via hotels were instead being sent away from the city due to what the BBC say is “a severe shortage in accommodation caused by the concert.”Swift will be playing three nights at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield stadium from June 7-9. Thousands of fans will be in attendance in the city and as a result, accommodation in Edinburgh will be scarce in that period.Homeless families and tourists being forced to compete for the same accommodation is further evidence of @Edinburgh_CC and indeed most of Scotland's #HousingEmergency.Business as usual from @ScotGov won't cut it.
