Katy Perry is ‘excited’ to stay at Windsor Castle before king’s coronation

The “Firework” singer said that performing for the royal family is an honor. “I was so grateful to get the honor,” gushed Perry. “I’m an ambassador to one of his foundations for the British Asian Trust, which primarily focuses on ending child trafficking, which is a huge issue of our time that people don’t talk enough about, and it just aligned with all my values … He asked me to sing and it all aligned,” continued the singer.
The “Teenage Dream” performer made the announcement that she would be singing at the three-day celebration after it was reported that several other A-list singers — including Sir Elton John — refused the king’s invite. Perry said that she was shocked by how fancy her invitation was. “It was very regal,” laughed Perry.
“It was like a cursive I have never seen [before] … I loved it.”The Post reached out to the singer for comment. Perry’s “Idol” co-star Lionel Richie was also asked to perform at the coronation. Richie, 73, was named Global Ambassador for then-Prince Charles’ charity group the Prince’s Trust in 2019.
The complete list of coronation singers includes the pop group Take That, opera superstar Andrea Bocelli, 64, and Sir Bryn Terfel, 57, who will perform a duet and Freya Ridings.
