Katie Price’s mother Amy reveals she was close to getting her daughter sectioned

Katie Price's mum, Amy, has opened up about how her daughter hit "rock bottom" in September 2021, which led to her considering having her daughter sectioned. Amy, 71, who is is living with terminal idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, has opened up about being Katie's mother, as well as the struggles that Katie, 45, a mum-of-five, has faced through the years in her upcoming memoir The Last Word.
Discussing Katie's drink-drive crash in September 2021, Amy has now revealed that she believes this was a suicide attempt, which came after her daughter hit "rock bottom." Opening up ahead of the book's release, Amy told The Sun: "I’d feared it would reach that point one day. "After all the years of failed relationships, betrayals by friends, duplicitous managers, and the painful loneliness she had experienced all her life.
It had all come to a head." She then admitted: "We seriously thought about sectioning Kate under the Mental Health Act, but I just couldn’t do that to my own daughter." Amy then recalled the moment that Katie had phoned to tell her about the crash, with the former model telling her mum that she'd didn't want to be "here" anymore and that she didn't understand why she was still alive. She added that a "decent man" had stopped to help Katie, who she could hear telling her: "You’ve got five kids.
You’ve got everything to live for." It was after this that Amy says she, her husband, and Katie's siblings considered having her sectioned, with Katie's stepdad taking her to The Priory where she completed a stay in rehab.
