ITV GMB's Kate Garraway has been dealt another blow as she faces a £150,000 bill from liquidators winding up her late husband Derek Draper's business, Astra Aspera.
The psychotherapeutic company's closure has resulted in Kate being asked to pay a flat fee of £32,000 plus 40 per cent of any recovered assets.
The I'm A Celebrity alum, who lost Derek earlier this year, is also looking at a £112,836 bill to repay a director's loan taken out by her husband, a former Labour Party advisor. The mother-of two was left with a debt of £1.5million due to the cost of Derek's care and money owed to HMRC.
Astra Aspera Ltd was closed down with a debt of £184,096.96, leaving Kate with a hefty £716,000 tax bill. Another of her companies, Praespero 100 Ltd, saw its assets decrease by £87,043 in 2022.
She has enlisted the help of London financial experts Hacker Young to deal with HMRC's demands, according to The Sun.
Hacker Young specialises in 'tax investigations and litigation support'. Despite her financial struggles, Kate previously expressed her embarrassment over her debt situation, despite having an "incredible" and "well-paid" job with ITV that she loves, reports Birmingham Live.
A friend of Kate's told the Mail: "She is doing okay, she is bearing up and is being strong for her children."
Speaking to The Sun last March, Kate admitted: "Of course it's been tough financially. As anyone with a loved one who is seriously ill knows, the costs go through the roof in so many ways."
