Kanye West says he’s locked out of Netflix doc edit room, demands final cut

Kanye «Ye» West's marriage and now split from Kim Kardashian has dominated much of the last decade of his life, the 40-year-old reality star and their family together do not feature predominantly in Kanye's new Netflix documentary trilogy, . ET's Lauren Zima spoke with the film's directors, Clarence «Coodie» Simmons and Chike Ozah about why the makeup mogul was mostly omitted from the footage surrounding the 44-year-old rapper's life. «I say if you wanna know more about the Kardashians, you can watch them on whatever network that is, but I feel like this family through my lens, through my perspective of being with Kanye, of all of us helping to get him where he is through fam or through, you know, it was a village of people that got him there, and I wasn't around with Kim Kardashian and the family,» Coodie, who has known Kanye for decades, explained to ET. Coodie was friends with Kanye at a young age and began recording footage with the «Praise God» emcee back in 1998. The first two installments of the trilogy take place ahead of the release of Kanye's hit 2004 album,, while the third follows him in his later years.

Kim Kardashian is speaking candidly about what led to her decision to finally separate from her now-ex-husband, Kanye West.  Kardashian filed for divorce from West last February.They were married for nearly seven years and share four kids together. On Friday, Netlix dropped the final trailer for the upcoming docuseries , which boasts to be an unprecedented look into the 44-year-old artist's experience, showcasing both his formative days trying to break into the entertainment industry and his life today as a global brand and artist.Described as a «landmark documentary event,» the seriescomes from Clarence «Coodie» Simmons and Chike Ozah, more commonly known as Coodie & Chike, who first garnered attention with their breakthrough music video for West’s «Through the Wire.» Since then, they have directed «Two Words» and a version of «Jesus Walks» in addition to Erykah Badu’s powerful and controversial music video for «Window Seat.»The trailer features glimpses of footage of the rapper captured by Coodie, whose voiceover explains that when he first met the «up-and-coming producer back in '98, I knew he was destined for greatness.»«The goal was to see how far his dreams would take him.

Kanye West will not be given “final edit and approval” on the forthcoming documentary Jeen-Yuhs, according to the film’s directors.The rapper and producer’s music career is the subject of the upcoming three-part movie, which is set for release on Netflix on February 16.West, who is now legally known as Ye, made a statement about the film on Instagram on January 21 in which he “kindly” said: “I must get final edit and approval on this doc before it releases on Netflix.“Open the edit room immediately so I can be in charge of my own image.”A post shared by ye (@kanyewest)Speaking in a new interview with Rolling Stone, Jeen-Yuhs’ directors Coodie and Chike have now said that they will not be granting West his request to “open the edit room”.“Me and Chike have a company called Creative Control, because you don’t want to lose your creative control,” Coodie said.“If Kanye wasn’t as polarising of a character as he was, we wouldn’t have an interesting doc,” Chike added. “This just comes with the territory.

Kanye West is aiming to tour Australia this year, according to a new report, but a clash with the Australian Football League (AFL) is said to have disrupted his plans for a concert at a stadium in Melbourne.According to the Sydney Morning Herald, West – now legally known as Ye – had planned to perform at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium on March 21 as part of the tour.However, an opening fixture between the St Kilda and Collingwood AFL teams is scheduled for March 18, with the gap between those dates not providing adequate time for West’s production crew to bump in for the show.The newspaper reports that “two sources with knowledge of [West’s] plans for an Australian tour” said West’s tour promoters, TEG, approached the AFL, who own Marvel Stadium, asking them to move the match to another venue. The Herald points out the likely alternative venue would have been the Melbourne Cricket Ground.The AFL reportedly declined the request.

Kanye West has hit out at estranged wife Kim Kardashian for allowing their eldest daughter, North, to wear lipstick when filming TikTok videos. North, eight, has gotten herself into bother with her parents a couple of times as a result of Tiktok – including when she gave a live tour of her home without Kim’s permission. A recent development in North’s antics is that she was spotted wearing lipstick in one of her clips, which rapper dad Kanye, 44, isn’t happy about and has criticised Kim, 41, for allowing her to wear it.
