Kanye West & JAY-Z Reportedly Resolve TIDAL Lawsuit & Are Back On Good Terms

Kanye West’s discography is littered with abandoned album titles, from Waves to Good Ass Job to Turbo Grafx 16, and now we can officially add Thank God For Drugs to the list. Designer Joe Perez has worked with Kanye for several years on cover art for Yeezus, The Life of Pablo, and Cruel Summer, and now he’s sharing some of his design archive via a new Instagram account. His first post confirms an obscure old rumor that 2013’s Yeezus was originally meant to be titled Thank God For Drugs.

TMZ has confirmed that publishing juggernaut EMI has reopened its lawsuit against Kanye West, despite reports to the contrary earlier this year. The legal battle began in January when West claimed that EMI had unfairly kept him in his contract; later that year, the publisher countersued West claiming he had no right to request freedom from said contract.

It looked like Kanye West settled a lawsuit with EMI, back in September. But the music publisher asked a federal judge to reopen the case in a letter submitted on Dec. 23.

EMI has reopened its back-and-forth legal dispute with Kanye West, according to TMZ. The move is coming in under the wire: though the suits seemed to be settled in September, a federal judge had ruled that either party could re-open the case before Friday, December 27. According to TMZ, EMI’s lawyers wrote “unfortunately the parties have been unable to finalize the terms of the settlement agreement.”
