Juvenile charged with murdering four in West Virginia, including two kids

A shooting at a Walmart in Sterling, Va., late Saturday afternoon left three people injured, including one sheriff's deputy.  Two police officers responded to a Walmart after the suspect allegedly tried to steal something around 5 p.m.  After a confrontation, the suspect shot a police officer and two loss prevention officers inside the store.

The West Virginia National Guard admitted Thursday that 42 people expecting to receive the Moderna vaccine for COVID-19 were instead accidentally given the Regeneron antibody used to treat infections.

A man accused of shooting a Pennsylvania police officer last week while handcuffed was captured Tuesday in a neighboring state following a manhunt that involved multiple law enforcement agencies.  Koby Francis, 22, was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals at a Clarksburg, W. Va., apartment complex, the Allegheny County Police Department said in a news release.

A member of West Virginia’s Air National Guard was fatally injured while responding to an arson call early Sunday morning, authorities said.  The airman, who was assigned to the 167th Airlift Wing in Martinsburg, was responding to a mutual aid response call to a structure fire on Charles Town Road when he was fatally injured. Investigators believe that this fire – and another one about three miles away – were set intentionally within 20 minutes of each other.

A former contestant on the longtime hit show "Survivor" has been charged with grand larceny after some personal effects were taken from a residence in Virginia, authorities said. According to the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office, Jonny Fairplay, who competed on the reality competition series in 2003 and was known for concocting the lie that his grandmother had died, was charged after a silver necklace and furniture were taken from a home in the area.

Police have captured the UPS employee accused of fatally assaulting a co-worker while they were traveling in a delivery truck in Connecticut earlier this week, authorities said. Connecticut State Police announced they had taken 19-year-old Elijah David Bertrand into custody hours after he became the target of a manhunt that began Tuesday night in Watertown, where fellow UPS worker Nathan Burk was discovered suffering from injuries, police said.

Survivor contestant Jonny Fairplay was taken into police custody alongside his mother, Patsy Hall, on Friday, December 18.An arrest information report from the City of Danville Police Depart states that Fairplay, 46, and Hall, 67, were arrested on larceny charges in Danville, Virginia. According to the arrest warrant obtained by TMZ, the reality star allegedly stole furniture and a necklace from his grandmother, Jean Cook.

A West Virginia police department spread some holiday cheer this week by handing out gift cards instead of traffic tickets. The West Virginia Fraternal Order of Police donated $500 in Chick-fil-A gift cards to the South Charleston Police Department, which distributed them between Wednesday and Friday, according to local reports.
