Justin Bieber could follow Jake Paul in trying his hand at boxing. The American YouTuber turned boxer and now promoter has taken the sport by storm since making his pro debut in January 2020 against fellow social media star AnEsonGib. Paul, 25, recently announced he will return to the ring on August 13 for his sixth professional bout.
Bieber, meanwhile, has been training behind the scenes to help him prepare for a supporting role in a film based on the life of former world title challenger Dmitry Salita. And it’s led to American screenwriter Gregory Allen Howard, who wrote the script for the film, tipping Bieber to follow Paul in embarking on a new career in boxing. Howard told Vegas Insider: “From what I’ve seen of Justin Bieber, he has the talent and the boxing skill to crossover from an entertainment background into boxing – he has the ability to become the next Jake Paul.
“I saw Justin spar and he’s got skills. I’m not telling you he’s ready to be the middleweight champion of the world but he’s not bad. The hard thing in a boxing movie is to move like a boxer.
“Justin Bieber apparently was taking some lessons, he was really quite credible. There’s a little clip of him on YouTube or something. He’s very credible as a boxer.
“The Canadian pop star, who is one of the most famous people in the world, previously challenged Hollywood actor Tom Cruise to a MMA fight in the UFC Octagon in 2019. He tweeted: “I want to challenge Tom Cruise to fight in the octagon. Tom if you don’t take this fight your scared and you will never live it down.
