Zack Snyder is opening up about how Joss Whedon was brought in by Warner Bros. Pictures to take over the director’s chair for Justice League.

In a comment that surprised exactly no one, Justice League director Zack Snyder has said his upcoming Snyder Cut of the troubled superhero film will not feature any footage that was shot by Joss Whedon for the theatrical release.

Justice League isn’t due to arrive until next year, but this weekend the director shared a sneak peek of the much anticipated film.Yesterday (July 25), Snyder took part in a live web panel at the first inaugural Justice Con. Speaking to The Nerd Queens (Cole and Nana) and Wonder Meg, the director revealed that the runtime of his cut of the DC film will be more than 214 minutes.

Now that the floodgates to “Zack Snyder’s Justice League” have opened, there is no turning back. Now that the holy grail of director’s cut and movie rumors was confirmed real, people are eager to see more than a short clip.

Don’t expect to see much of Joss Whedon‘s “Justice League” footage in the new Snyder Cut, now known as “Zack Snyder’s Justice League.” Though it shouldn’t come as a surprise, Zack Snyder himself confirmed he will absolutely not use any footage not shot by him. Indeed, Snyder went as far as saying he’d rather “destroy the movie” before using someone else’s footage.

It can be quite difficult to find a happy medium in film or other kinds of visual art, for that matter. Something that satisfies both subject matter purists and the average joe looking for some entertainment.

Filmmaker Zack Snyder’s upcoming director’s cut of Justice League is racing towards becoming a four-hour epic.

Next year, the world will be gifted “Zack Snyder’s Justice League.” But outside of that, there’s not much else we know about the film. Or is it going to be a miniseries? Again, we’re not sure.
