Eight Minneapolis residents are suing the city council over a lack of police presence amid spikes in violent crime in the city, according to local news reports.  The residents are blaming the council's calls to defund the police after George Floyd's May 25 death and argue that the city has not said how many officers are currently on the ground to meet a minimum requirement for protecting residents, according to WCCO.

Calls to "defund the police" are still alive on social media and in protests amid civil unrest across the U.S., but spikes in violent crime have some officials questioning the feasibility of the movement.

Jon Bon Jovi revealed he took extra precautions when writing his song “American Reckoning” because he considers himself a "poster boy" for white privilege.  In the song released in July, he discussed Black Lives Matter protests, referenced George Floyd’s murder and talked police brutality.
