Pre-production on the upcoming NBC/Blumhouse limited series The Thing About Pam, starring Renée Zellweger and Josh Duhamel, has been suspended, a rep for Blumhouse told Deadline. Based on a the real-life, stranger-than-fiction story behind the 2011 murder of Betsy Faria, the series has been in final stages of pre-production in New Orleans, with filming slated to begin Sept.

Zellweger stars in NBC’s adaptation as Pam Huff, with Josh Duhamel playing Joel Schwartz, the defense attorney for Russ Faria.The series stems from a partnership between Blumhouse Television and NBC News Studios. The Betsy Faria case was featured on multiple episodes of NBC News’ “Dateline,” becoming “one of the most popular topics to ever air” on the show, according to the network.Zellweger serves as executive producer on the adaptation via her Big Picture Co.
