Josh Brolin on his disappointment over new ‘Deadpool’ film: “I so wanted to be in that movie”

Disney Marvel Studios’ first R-rated release, Deadpool & Wolverine, is already heating up eight weeks before its release having already collected some $8M in first day ticket sales. The Shawn Levy directed, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman starring threequel opens July 26. That’s pretty remarkable for an R-rated movie two months before release.

Amazon MGM Studios has acquired worldwide rights to the action comedy Brothers from Legendary Pictures, Deadline has confirmed. Directed by Palm Springs‘ Max Barbakow and starring Josh Brolin and Peter Dinklage, the film will open in select theaters starting October 11, becoming available to stream on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide on October 17.

Speaking to Fandango alongside “Deadpool and Wolverine” co-star Ryan Reynolds and director Shawn Levy, Jackman said his decision to play Wolverine again the character was killed off in 2017’s “Logan” was more or less a spontaneous one. “I was on my way, I was just driving, and literally, just like a bolt of lightning, came this knowing deep in my gut that I wanted to do this film with Ryan [Reynolds],” Jackman said.

Whenever Marvel releases a project that deals with the idea of a multiverse, fans go crazy with rumors about who will show up as a cameo. And for “Deadpool & Wolverine,” the multiverse story was compounded by the fact that many believe the film will end the “X-Men” universe that began over at Fox in 2000.

However, as already reported, one character that viewers may have wanted to see but sadly won’t be in the anticipated blockbuster is Josh Brolin’s Cable, who previously appeared in “Deadpool 2.” Brolin’s absence from the film is already known; he was never reported as part of the film, and there’s no trace of him in any of the recent trailers; he even joked that he had beef with “Deadpool” star Ryan Reynolds.
