Jordin Tootoo Documentary ‘Tootoo’ Announced by ScoreG Productions and Super Channel; 2022 Theatrical Release Planned

As awards season begins to heat up, the Oscars are narrowing down some nominees

2021 has been a year of experimentation for Warner Bros. and HBO Max.

It comes in just under the buzzer, but Denzel Washington’s latest directorial effort, “A Journal for Jordan,” has to be one of the strangest movies of 2021. Not because it’s so maudlin or rinky-dink, but because it marks his follow-up to the immense passion he poured into adapting August Wilson’s “Fences” back in 2016.

Sony Pictures Classics has set a March 25 theatrical release date for The Duke, directed by the late Roger Michell. The film starring Jim Broadbent and Helen Mirren will open in theaters in New York and Los Angeles before expanding in the following weeks. The dramedy is currently playing at the Laemmle Royal in Los Angeles for a one-week awards qualifying run through Dec. 16.

Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas' film,  will be released on streaming services instead of getting a theatrical release as previously planned.The film will reportedly be released domestically on Hulu, while Amazon will stream the film overseas, reports. No new premiere date has yet been announced.The erotic thriller starring the former couple — who met and sparked a short-lived whirlwind romance while filming — was originally set to hit theaters on Jan.

The issue of the exclusive theatrical release has been discussed quite a bit in 2021, especially as we watched Warner Bros. release so many films day-and-date on HBO Max and in cinemas.

Huge news in the movie and streaming world: NBCUniversal has announced that the titles from Universal Filmed Entertainment Group (UFEG) will be available to stream on the streaming service Peacock as early as 45 days after the films are released in theaters.
