A false death report spread on the internet on Friday morning (October 7) after People magazine accidentally posted an obituary that appears to have been pre-written.
Joni‘s rep spoke out to confirm she is doing well amid the erroneous report, which scared fans into thinking that she might have actually died.

“I can confirm all is well so this was done in error,” Joni‘s rep told Variety.
People‘s article went up with the headline, “Joni Mitchell Dies at TK AGE.” For those who don’t know, journalists often will put “TK” in a pre-written article if there is information that is still “to come.” The info will be filled in before the article is published.
While Joni has kept a low profile since 2015, when she suffered a brain aneurysm rupture, she performed her first full concert in years over the summer.
