movie news that’s going to make the world dance in their seats! The director of the film, which stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, revealed that the film will now be broken into two movies, with the first one coming to theaters in December 2024 and the second one in December 2025. “Thank you for all the support these past several months in anticipation of the movie,” he wrote in a note posted on his social media.
“We have so many exciting things to share but for now I’m giving you one...or two, rather.” Chu shared that as he and the cast went on to prepare the film, they realized that there was just too much to cut, without taking away from the original beloved story. “Here’s what happened: as we prepared this production over the last year, it became increasingly clear that it would be impossible to wrestle the story of into a single film without doing some real damage to it,” the note continued. “As we tried to cut songs or trim characters, those decisions began to feel like fatal compromises to the source material that has entertained us all for so many years.

Disney has made some late Friday additions to its 2023 release schedule, specifically around Marvel Studios. The changes aren’t drastic or significant, but there is a little switcheroo.
The Marvels and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania have swapped release dates. Both Disney/Marvel films are moving along very nicely, we hear, but the Ant-Man sequel is further along in the production process, and it was a simple decision by the studio to swap the release dates.

HOUSTON -- The experiences of panicked concertgoers who couldn’t breathe and had no clear path to escape a massive crowd surge at last year’s deadly Astroworld music festival in Houston are featured in a documentary set for release Friday. But lawyers for Live Nation, which is being sued for its role as the festival’s promoter, say they’re concerned that publicity from the documentary, “Concert Crush: The Travis Scott Festival Tragedy,” could “taint the jury pool.” A gag order has been issued in the case, but Live Nation’s lawyers say an attorney who filed lawsuits related to the tragedy also co-produced the documentary.Charlie Minn, the film’s director, said he believes he has made a balanced and fair film that tries to show the public what happened.“My job is to make the most truthful, honest, sincere documentary from the victim’s point of view ... We need to know about these stories to prevent it from happening again,” Minn told The Associated Press.Around 500 lawsuits have been filed following the Nov.
Jem Aswad Senior Music EditorFrom the Beatles to the Backstreet Boys to Billie and BTS and beyond, the teen-centric pop concert is both timeless and definitively contemporary, from the screaming and sing-along/shout-alongs to the masses of similarly dressed fans — looking almost military in matching merch — to the indulging attendant parents and, these days, the selfies and social overload. And it was the latter, along with the overwhelmingly pre-drinking age audience, that made Olivia Rodrigo’s concert at New York’s Radio City Music Hall on Wednesday the most definitively 2020s teen-centric concert of all: a near-total, two-hour-long wi-fi blackout in the venue so extensive that Russia could have launched a cyber attack and most of the crowd would have assumed it was simply due to thousands of kids posting selfies and video.

Wicked movie musical. Only those of us who have lived through the content famine since the dark day in 2004, when Universal made plans , know that good cannot conquer evil. Evil rules everything around us. I am not being dramatic. This is the normal level of concern for someone who has been in an 18-year holding pattern waiting to watch a green woman belt a sustained F-note while flying on a broomstick.
There’s a huge Wicked movie announcement!
Here’s something that hasn’t been done with a musical before: Universal will release its feature take on the smash Broadway musical Wicked in two parts on December 25, 2024 and December 25, 2025. It’s a bold swing for a musical, which of late have been risky onscreen. However, this one is based on a legacy crowd-pleaser.
